Perfect Warm White

If you're looking for soft yet powerful landscape lighting, we've got the perfect LED for you. Because our MR16 5w LED is 2700k, it's the ideal warm white for creating welcoming highlights within your yard.

Long Life Time

Did you know, LEDs have longer lifespans than incandescent or halogen bulbs? Because of this, we use LEDs in all of our low voltage lights.

These bulbs have an average lifespan of around 30,000 to 50,000 hours - that's 3.5 to 5.5 years of constant use! What's even better is that we don't just use long-lasting bulbs in our fixtures, but we also build the light fixture to last a lifetime. As a result of combining these 2 long-lasting elements, Silhouette Lights landscape lighting systems are durable and low-maintenance.

  • Low voltage, 12v AC
  • 2800k

Your Guide to LED Landscape Lighting Brightness

Lumens to Watts Conversion: Choosing the Right LED Bulb

When selecting light bulbs for your landscape lighting projects, it's important to understand that the traditional method of choosing bulbs based on wattage is outdated. With modern LED technology, we now focus on lumens to determine brightness. Here’s a simple guide to help you make the right choice.

What Are Watts?

Watts measure energy consumption. For years, we associated brightness with wattage because incandescent bulbs consumed a specific amount of energy (watts) to produce light. For example, a 60-watt incandescent bulb was a common standard for household lighting. However, with LEDs, watts no longer directly correlate to brightness because LEDs use much less energy to produce the same amount of light.

What Are Lumens?

Lumens measure the amount of visible light emitted by a bulb. The higher the lumens, the brighter the light. As you shop for LED bulbs, you’ll notice that manufacturers now list lumens on packaging instead of watts. This shift helps consumers choose bulbs based on desired brightness rather than energy consumption.

Understanding Efficacy (Lumens per Watt)

Efficacy refers to how efficiently a light source converts energy (watts) into light (lumens). Incandescent bulbs have an efficacy of about 15 lumens per watt, while LED bulbs typically range from 75 to 110 lumens per watt. This means LEDs are up to7 times more efficientthan incandescent bulbs. For example, if you're replacing a 60-watt incandescent bulb with an LED, you can use a general rule of thumb: divide the wattage by 7. In this case, a 60-watt incandescent bulb would be roughly equivalent to a 9-watt LED bulb. However, always check the lumens listed on the packaging to ensure you're getting the desired brightness.

Making the Switch to LED Bulbs

At Silhouette Lights, we make it easy for you to switch to LED landscape lighting. Our product pages clearly display both the lumen output and the equivalent incandescent or halogen wattage for each bulb. This ensures you can confidently choose the right LED bulb for your outdoor lighting needs.
